This is awesome. I paid 250$ for my D2 skidplate on ebay. The OEM part is 650$!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It seriously saved my butt the last time I was in Baja.
Also, the OEM ones are made of aluminum to save weight.

n/m i do have one... i just glanced at it and didnt "look" i think i could fab one up, but rovertym makes a really good gas tank skid, i dont think i could top them...those guys make some quality stuff...

that's cool, i've been wanting a skidplate for ages...
i was going to ask if you can still mount one of these if you have an aftermarket front bumper. does the skidplate mount to the bumper at all?

im actually waitin for spike to email me some pictures of a disco with no skidplate and no brackets so i can see what i need to do to make a "kit"... apcollin, no it doesnt mount to the bumper, just to some brackets on the frame, i am gonna start workin on the design for those soon so i might be able to hook you guys up...

Cool i bet a lot of people would buy them... they're so expensive from any supplier.
what if you made them out of diamond-plate stainless? that would look pretty badass. especially if it was black (more subtle)

ok.. now i think i have an idea of what will be needed to make the brackets and stuff... i will pull mine off today after work and start drawin them up to try and make some... it may take me about a week but as soon as i get some made i will let everyone know...

oh no sorry not yet... been super busy, with halloween and my birthday bein last week and a guy broke his hand at work yesterday... i'm the safety guy so i had to take care of it... but my lift kit just came in yesterday, so saturday when i put on the lift i will pull the brackets an get the measurements i need and see what is gonna be involved...
