You all continue to amaze me.

Thank you so much!

And when I bought the truck, the dealer had replaced only the owner's manual, not the leather case with everything in it.

I will definintely take a look at Royal Purple.

Thanks again, so much.. without you all, I would have sold it! haha

If I were to change over to RP, what fluids would I actually be changing other than the engine oil, and what fluids exactly would I change it to?

What I mean is:

Oil= "this exact oil"

ATF= "this exact RP fluid"

...and so on..

Thank you soooooo much, again!! You all really are amazing!!!!!

Gear lube (Max-Gear)
ATF (Max ATF)
Engine oil (Royal Purple High Preformance Motor Oil)
Power Steering (Max EZ)

EDIT: The name in parantheses is the actual name of the Royal Purple product.

You know that you are supposed to change the coolant every 30k, and the brake fluid every 24 mo right?
The dealer can get you a maintaince book. Or test drive another '03 and "borrow" the book from it.

Doesn't extended life coolant with the OAT that these trucks use last for 150,000? That should give you at least 50-60k for service intervals...30k seems a bit short.

I get a freebee magazine from 4 Wheel Parts called Off Road Adventures and the February issue has an article on changing out all the lubricants in an '86 Ford F250HD 4x4 with Royal Purple (on page 70). Interesting article and it also suggests using a larger oil filter as long as it has thesame bypass valve opening pressure. They also recommend filling the oil fiter with oil before attaching it to avoid any drystarts.

Yes DexCool is supposed to last 150K, but the owners manual on the RAVE CD says to change the coolant every 30,000 miles.
Maybe that is what is causing all the blown head gaskets? People are not changing the coolant like they should and the corrosive DexCool is eating away at the gaskets.
Check your owners manual, it is under the "OwnersRoutine Maintenance" section.
I checked all the D2 books and they are all the same, change the coolant every 30k or 24 months, whichever is sooner.
I would cut and paste from the book if I knew how. Looks like it is on page 160.

My owners manual doesn't have the service schedule. If it did, I would have looked at it, and not asked you all.
Correct, It's in the "Passport to Service" A separate booklet. Just in case that wasn't an understood, if so, sorry for being an idiot.

Sorry- I'm the moron. Didn't see the 2nd page of the post. But do tell the dealer to quit being cheap and get you the service book it has the complete list of what's supposed to be done at each service interval.
