as the title says...."idiots .... ...."
so new parts for rocker assembly and I have a question..... I know, I know.....can't even put a rocker shaft together, without help.
so yella terra rollers going on for more efficient lube, lower noise, adjustability, and (the big one) to reduce friction.


yt instructions call for a washer sandwich on the arms. obviously, the stock set up is spring spacer, no washers.so maybe that's a different rv8, who knows. no big deal, more than one way to skin a cat. i began assembly (just like original set up) and had an ocd attack.....
which way = less wear/less friction.

I'm a new owner and trying to plan ahead for when my engine eventually blows, this thread has been super helpful. I have to ask though: has anyone ever done a turbo setup?
Why not? I would think a simple, low psi turbo setup could be amazing for power with minimal reliability issues provided you kept the fuel flowing.

I personally think these are better suited for superchargers. More successful applications anyway. Also more available options.
boost performance uk has unmachined manifolds to make for an easy turbo install.....but then you have to make everything else able to handle the rpms....

BUT, the s/c Rover engines do come with their own issues and problems. It really depends on the usage and intended mileage.

They also do a supercharged V6 engine

yeah, I moved away from the idea. would like to stay na and see what I can squeeze out of it. if you will purchase me a small block ford crank and have it machined to fit as 5.2 rv8, rods, and pistons I will be making some bigger steps. so far I have settled for 4.6 with less restriction and reduced friction. janspeed has some set ups too

Janspeed, you are right. They produced the very first na twin turbo RR back in the 70's/80's. They know their way around performance RRV8's and many other engines. Produced some good race cars over the years.

Of course there's the mega option of the Jag V8 or even the AM V12 twin turbo stuffed under the hood.

now you're talking. even with oversized valves, 2 per is limiting.

What I really enjoy is squeezing the 4 cylinder 2.0 litre engines until the 'pips squeak' and extracting the max bhp/torque from them, it's great fun. It was sad when the old Ford Cosworth BDA, BDE and BDX came to the end of their days as they were so advanced back in the late 60's early 70's. The other magic engine was the Cosworth V8 DFV with the 4 valve heads, frightening performance in their day as well, they formed the backbnoe of F1 racing back then.
