Those ajs are pricey and you'd want the 5.0......I'd think ls3 cheaper option.

Got a response from an inquiry at crower
"229 is the most popular for a reason. We feel it is the best overall option"
So looks like that is the best option

I've seen a few as well...just not wanting to run risk of not being able to adapt

So how much did the machine shop get for the complete port and polish?

I guess if I was going to do it, I would:

Start with a solid 4.0 block or a early Range Rover 4.6.
If using the 4.0 block add a 4.6 crank and rods
4.0 pistons
50229
ford injectors
polished and ported heads with a triple angle valve job
supercharger they made for the rover v8
Headers
free flow exhaust including cats

If I really wanted a fire breathing hot rod rover V8 though I'd probably call PT Schram

I paid $200 for mine. I specified a reputable shape because I kinda wish I had sprung for the $500 dollar job. The job done wasn't a bad one, but looking at what was done I feel I could've had a better one done. That's why I specified to use a reputable shop, don't cheap out. The one I could have used is just outside of Bristol, TN (Blountville) and is the same one used by all the NASCAR teams are in town.

Still, even the cheap job I had done made a difference of night and day.

As someone who has gone down the Ford Injectors route, they're not worth the time or effort. They are nearly exactly the same as the stock D2 injectors other than the link; both are 19 lb and both are a 4 hole design.

Oh, I forgot to add, I've read that the Eaton M90 supercharger can be made to fit on the 4.6 Rover V8. That might be something for you to look into, too.

having a bit of trouble finding the eaton kit that works best. i see the ones for the jag 4.0
talk of the m112 fitting in the valley and m90 more of a hassle.
also from rpi...
"
Warning against Supercharging the 4.0 or 4.6 Engine
Those with supercharges, will also discover this. On most supercharged engines, Especially those using the Eaton M90), poor fuel distribution and weak mixtures eventually cause detonation that will collapse the ring grooves on the rear cylinders and cause partial engine seizure, and eventual piston breakage"
RPi Engineering - V8 Engine and Component List

have found some used optec units.
still researching.............

it would appear that the lack of carburetor and control of timing via dizzy would diminish the reward of a supercharger on these. outside of the Cameron concept rr sse, any other supercharged set ups that were offered? just on the jag, right?

looking like supercharger is more trouble that it would be worth unless I am missing something. so i feel like that avenue probably not the one i should take.
any mind changing evidence out there?

Do you want power or reliable lol? I thought that issue was for the 14cux system.
