Default Idle air control valve

What is the average life span of this unit? The truck just turned 60k, 2003 D2. I have owned it about 5 mos now, did all the 60k items per Mikes recommendations, only difference is I went with NGK Iridiums and 8mm STI wires after I got the truck. Had also replaced both valve cover gaskets, should of went farther as I notice oil starting to leak from the valley area, oh well. Idle seems a little rough, so about 2 mos ago I took out the IAC, cleaned the unit with brake clean because I noticed it was stuck and not moving, started moving after I cleaned it. Could the unit be going bad, or is it normal for these motors to be a little rough?

Doubtful!!
Why did you take it out and apart, shouldn't have.
Do you have a CEL on, if so what codes?
Have you cleaned the t/body?
Check for vacuum leaks at hoses and around the manifold.
As to your question, they usually don't fail.

I did not take it apart, I took out the unit and sprayed brake clean to clean it out, the butterfly valve inside was freed after cleaning it. I read about this procedure somewhere, so I tried it. The idle is not that bad, just thought if it would improve with a new valve.
