they exist.....the problem is that people rarely feel compelled to come on the boards when they don't have issues. it is human nature that complaint is louder than compliment.......the whole "if a tree falls......"

I'll be the first to come on here and brag. We just rolled 200k miles on our '99. I have YET to do the headgaskets. The thing runs like a top. I use middle grade gas (89) and it's a daily driver.

There have been a few maintenance items to take care of, but nothing major... *knock on wood*. Still have a few things that I need to figure out/take care of. Stiff steering at times (flushed PS fluid, afraid it may be the box), rebuilt master cylinder, replaced alternator, and some other things.

I bought my Disco 2 with 140,000 miles on it. The head gaskets were done 10,000miles prior. I now have 170,000. It runs great. I've had to do radiator, alternator, plugs and wires. If I have to do a motor down the road I will. It's a fun car to drive.

I would think you'd know if the oil pump were going to go by now.

Don't let her overheat as mentioned before. That hastens everything. I am really intrigues by the Evans waterless coolant and will be switching soon. It seems to me that having a pressureless cooling system is a no brainer.

Dreading parts failure is part of D2 ownership. With time, you will learn to relax. But most of us know that exact feeling. You know they are coming, but where and when is unknown.

So the answer to your question is unfortunately, NO the fact that it hasn't happened at that mileage doesn't mean that it won't happen. It just means that you are getting closer and closer to failure at each mile you drive.

146K on my 04 Disco and I just put a new rebuilt engine in it last month. Slipped liners headgasket was fine tho.

Need to change the Cat's and 02 sensors and I'm going to do a complete underside maintenance on the drive line including shocks and springs in the next few months.

I love this truck and live driving it.
