Default Ignition issue? - Dash lights come on after vehicle locked.

New to the forum but I have been reading threads for a while. I own a 02 discovery 2.

The issue I am having:
After locking the car, the lights on the dash come on and off making this clicking sound. It could be 5-10 minutes or 3 hours after I lock the car but they keep coming on.

The weird thing is that they don't set the alarm off. Now I am also having an issue with the alarm going off but the dash lights are off when this happens.

I noticed last year that my ignition cylinder was sticking and it was tricky to get the key out without leaving all the lights on the dash on as if the key was still in it. As I was ready to tackle on the issue, it stopped happening, until now....

After reading several threads, I wonder if graphite lubricant would do the trick or if I need to remove the cylinder and have a go at it.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like the ignition switch. You can measure for 12 volts to chassis ground at fuse 35 inside the truck. If it has voltage, the key switch is "on".

Is there any way to fix or bypass the mechanism that springs back when you remove the key?
