Interior Dash Lights won't come on
I have a 95 Discovery. My light switch on the left hand side of the steering wheel, which turns on the headlights, will not turn on the dash lights inside the vehicle. The speedometer and heat control lighting does not come on. I also think the rear running lights don't come on, so I have to use the stock fog lights for rear lighting. The switch was kind of loosey before this happened. Is it a relay, fuse or switch problem? Thanks for your help.
I just had the exact same problem, for now you can moogie rig it by bypassing light switches and use a cigarette lighter adaptor but you will have a cord hanging down. To fix it I just replaced the the turn singal/light arm and my lights work perfectly now. Be warned, I had to make a speciality screwdriver to take it out because you need to take out two screws which are near impossible to get to unless you pull the steering wheel. Now Im not 100% that was it because I also replaced the dimmer switch but I think that was it.
Hi Lebowski87,
Thanks for your response to my posting. I've located the switch on my steering wheel colum. I can see why you had to make a special screw driver to remove the screws. Were you able to remove the switch without having to pull the steering wheel? Did you take a philips screw driver and bend the tip so it could fit into the 1/2" access space? Also, where did you buy the switch and roughly how much? I don't think its my dimmer switch, because if it was, the should be no reason why my rear running lights stop working too? Thanks again for the help.

if your dash lights and rear tail lights are not on it most likly is a fuse, the one undr the hood, 20 amp, this is a very common problem with the rovers, it a front for light usally shorting out.
Thats a possbility but I had the same problem and took a test light to my fuses and that wasnt the problem for me and another person who had the same problem so try the fuse first.
