Default Ignition locked after battery disconnection

I disconnected my battery to put on new terminal connectors. Time offline was about 2 hours tops.

The ignition turned the engine on once (to test it) and now will not turn at all. I cannot turn or position the key to any position. Totally locked

Lights work, horn works, doors work. Windows DONT. My driver side window is down and I cant raise it.

I tried all the wiggly wheel, gear shift etc first.

Second I read a tremendous amount regarding it may be the immobilizer. I contact Land Rover for the security code for my VIN# and then tried it many times as specified by the RAVE instructions I found in these forums. Unsuccessful.
I don't believe its the immobilizer. When I start the code sequence I start by holding the key in UNLOCK position in the door for 5 seconds (as specified) but I do not get any audiable beep that would suggest the car is now ready to receive the code (that should happen)

Any suggestions of where to go next? I have reconnected and disconnected the battery a few times as well.

-Stefan

Just a guess but sounds like the ignition switch failed. You can remove it and change ignition position manually

Or give a shot of wd40 into the ignition a shot. Not the best thing to use but might free up a stuck tumbler

since lubricating the lock worked, you might want to get some graphite grease or other lock-specific substance to keep it operating smoothly. wd-40 doesn't tend to hang around very long.

I would recommend powdered graphite. Available almost everywhere and comes in a squeeze tube you can squirt into the cylinder.

Or you could do this ...

My ignition switch has been funky a few years now, but I consider it another anti-theft feature. If it gets more funky I'll probably do this.
