Increase blower speed?
Is there an upgrade to make the air blow faster through the vents? I have an '03 that just blows a little less than I like. I live in Texas and would rather not roast this summer.
A good condition blower motor and squirrel cage should produce plenty of air. Inspect, clean, and/or replace your blower. Check air flow for any restrictions. Replace cabin filter. There's a hole just above the passenger fender under the hood, where the heated windscreen plugs are, check that. Make sure the flaps above the blower motor are operating correctly for face/feet, and recirculation.
Yep I've found a quick trick to revive old slow/squeaky blowers.
Remove lower dash panel via 4 plastic clips, then remove the electrical connector to the blower, and the 3 screws securing the blower to the blower housing. Once you have the blower out, remove the two torx screws at the bottom of the blower, and remove the rubber boot where the red/blue wires go into the blower motor. Then grab the cage and pull the entire blower out from the plastic outer housing. It'll probably be rusty or very gross. I recommend spraying a good lubricant on the bearing, spin it, and repeat several times. It should spin much better afterwards. There is an upper bearing just like the bottom, but most of the bearings that are squeaking/dirty = always the bottom. Once it spins freely re-install it the opposite of removal.
If after all that it's still slow or causes the wiring to be warm I'd replace it with the Made in Canada unit from Rock Auto. You can cheat even more and save a few bucks by ordering the unit out of a 99/00 D2. It's got a different connector, but you can just splice in yours and save about 10.00 or just get the later model style for around 44-50.00 from Rock Auto.
