I found one.
I like the idea of being able to see air pockets or bubbles in the coolant.
thanks.

No problem at all! I'm not sure if you remember my thread on the Pyrex mod, but it fits perfectly between the two supports for the OEM radiator hose on the top radiator shroud. 2+ years I think with it and several off road trips and it's still working like a champ.

This pic was taken just after I had installed it. You can see how easy it is to spot air bubbles!

Yep, as soon as you mentioned it earlier I remembered.
It was on my list last year, then my rebuild went south, the D2 sat a long time, now I'm back at it, and still collecting parts.

Smile My Inline Thermostat Mod

I went with the following solution -- pics below. Have tried a number of inline solutions, the current one has the least issues so far. I have had consistent trouble with leaks from the inline mod units irrespective of brand or build quality or ... and the custom U turn coolant hose solutions thus far have been leaky until this one (below). Re inline gasket sealing, have tried different gaskets, probably mostly user error, but the leaks have been a real problem. Re setup below, I don't miss the bleed screw -- I just elevate the reservoir, let it run for a long while w/ heater full blast, wait until Tstat opens, let it run some more, and fill as needed. Despite tstat's easy upper shroud access now, need truck operational so despite best efforts, I get a thorough coolant bath every time I open it up and collect the coolant before working on the tstat gasket, so the fact that I pinched the inline tstat internal rubber gasket slightly on the current iteration is minor given that it leaks 1 drop per 15 seconds -- this is by far best I've done as of yet. Will complete this in time and get it all sealed up, it's a process, truck is a beloved family workhorse, irreplaceable, we love it. I live in the Northeast (CT). With this mod, truck running far too cool with 180stat in winter, getting P026's daily. Now, w/ summer temps, temps more towards normal operating temps = ~178-185 temp w/ 180stat. Will try 190 / 195 tstats for winter. Thanks to everyone who has helped figure this one out. Major item. Temp stays in much tighter less worrisome range. Before, w/ original tstat and swapping other tstats including the grey 180, w/ orig OEM hose routing, temps were crazy and variable and ranged up and down quickly -- from 180 to 220 -- I simply never trusted it was always concerned re temp and would have to rev engine at idle to keep temps down esp. in summer. Now stable, consistent temps. Thanks again to all.

Meziere WN0072 Inline Thermostat Housing with intercooler pipe

Gotta love a disco! Will wrap intercooler pipe w/ heat absorbent tubing at some point

This has worked the best so far - smoothest turn / curve for good flow

This inline housing takes a thermostat from a ??...
It is June !. Leave it empty and run with NO thermostat. There is a few months until you find one or need one by November. That will be an experience finding what is the health of the rest of your cooling components. Temperatures will run as low as any troubled part allows.
What number is the "low coolant temperature code" ?
Trough all the surgeries; where do you tap the heater core and reservoir from ?
