Screw these guys, install the sunroofs, then go to the marina and get some sealant, marine grade.
Then with the sunroofs closed seal them shut, they will still leak, but it wont be as bad.
Seriously, I opened both of mine the day I test drove my truck back in '07, they have not been touched since.

I think you should do what you want with your Rover and your time. I have sunroofs in my 2003. I open them about everyday in the summer. They do not leak. When they start leaking I will fix the drain hoses as I have seen everyone else do on the forum. Its not rocket science... If you want to go the simple route and skip the wiring. You could use a 4mm to open and close them manually. While you are at it you could paint your headliner.
