great thread, this is next on my list. When cutting the hose, is it free of fluid? I thought there was no air in the system? Should I be prepared for a mess? Thanks!

Yes, there will be a bit of a mess but it's not too bad as the hose you cut is the highest in the system. Just make the cut quickly and put the fitting in. Then you can easily bleed the system because the air will all be at the bleeding tee. Just lift up the reservoir, open the screw and wait until you get a steady flow of coolant and that's it.

From everything I have read on this forum, the Dexcool needs to go. I probably wouldn't be putting in head gaskets right now if I had a better coolant gauge. I have one now and will have 2 pretty soon.
Nice looking ride by the way

So I got my oil and water temp gauges installed and they're great but the memory doesn't seem to work and they come up blue every time.

I have them plugged into the same fuse the clock uses (both wires)

Any ideas on how to remedy?

Very nicely done, though I'd prefer a less intrusive (i.e. no holes) pillar set...I'm not sure the value of adding an aftermarket temp gauge though? I figure the factory one is accurate enough even though I don't know the exact temp.
+1 Superb engine bay - could eat my dinner out of there only it would mess it up.

When you look at the aftermarket gauge reading using this install vs the reading via the ODBII connected to the coolant sensor on the intake manifold there is a lower temp on the aftermarket gauge by at least 10-15 degrees. I don't know the exact flow pattern of the coolant through the hoses but I'm assuming the install shown in this write up is of the coolant back into the engine from the radiator which would make sense as to why it is cooler.
