Default Intermittent radio

Hi all,
Question to the forum.
While driving home from The Shop in ATL. I was listening to the radio and it would play for about half an hour then stop.
The display would be normal, showing the radio station etc, just no sound at all.
Shut the unit off for about an hour and it would play as usual.(continue driving)
About half an hour and the symptoms return - radio on, display normal, just no sound.
Have read that the radio will play when key is removed for about 20 min', - don't know. If this is related.
Thanks in advance.
Rod

PS. Standard radio 2002 SE.

Would check fuses 16, 20, 26, and 33 carefully for hair line crack or such. This model has the amp inside the radio, so easy to swap whole thing. There is a small amp for the antenna that is above the back glasses. So if you losts stations, but not really stong local stations or other audio functions, that might be suspect.

If out in the radio desert between the Grand Strand and the land of Coca Cola and North Avenue Trade School, the antenna amp going in/out could remove all signal, I'm not sure if some hiss or static would remain. Of course in the evening you could listen to the Braves on WSB AM the whole way.

Dismantlers like Paul Grant on this forum can sell you the same unit for a modest fee.
