Default Intermittently Not Starting, then 10 minutes later, starts right up

I'm having a problem with my 2001 LR Disco II where sometimes the vehicle will not start. Everything within the vehicle is dead -- lights, radio, etc. Then, sometimes just minutes later, the vehicle starts up. I know that the battery has to be involved somehow because the clock resets and the temp. reads in Celcius. The battery was replaced about two years ago. I've checked the terminal connections and those look fine/are tight. I plan on seeing if I could get the battery tested today, but was hoping I might be able to get some thoughts if these symptoms sound familiar to anyone. I'd just replace the battery, but it seems odd that the battery would have no juice at all and then, suddenly, enough power to start the vehicle.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks LR03NJ. I'll check the connection some more since that would seem to be the most logical problem. I don't think it is the cold because the problem started when it was 50-60 degrees out and this morning, after being out in 20 degree weather, it started right up. Thanks again.

Also consider your (CPS) Crank position sensor, This does sound like a battery issue, but a start and then no start is indicative of a bad CPS. They die about every 30,000 to 50,000. It basically means the computer cannot determine where the crank is and then the Rover will not start when warmed up.

Thanks for everyone's help. I removed the wires from the battery terminal and noticed a little corrosion on the inside ring where the wire connects to the terminal (the corrosion was not visible without removal). I wire brushed that off, cleaned both terminals, and very tightly tightened the the wires back to the terminals. One of these two things seems to have fixed the problem as the clock has not reset since. Thanks again!

Replace the battery.
$110 for new one at Walmart.
Just do it.
corrosion means old battery had ACID leaking up from the posts.
Just junk the old battery

You can take the old battery with you as a CORE
and change it in the parking lot.
