I just started making an Iphone dock in the ashtray that slides out like its from the factory. I bought a kit to hard wire an extra cig lighter behind the dash that I can plug in a charger. That cord will be mounted in the sliding drawer so when its not in use it disappears.

Has anyone else tried anything like this?

I've never tried but I would be interested in what you come up with...

 

 

After cutting the metal away i put a 3/4 inch plywood spacer.





I ran the power cord to the fuse box under the steering wheel and the aux to the cd changer under the Passenger seat. Very clean no wires at all. When not in use it closes like factory.
