That's impressive! I'm going to pull my VC off I guess. They just started leaking a little, so I guess I'll do them soon, but I think I'll do a top end rebuild also.

"Changing your oil every 3k miles is well worth the money in the long run."

Modern high detergent oils are vastly superior to earlier oils; will help keep an engine nice and clean, and protect to maximum expectations, if you do your part in changing oil and filter when they need it, often. 3K MIGHT be a bit overkill with our best quality oils these days; I have known guys to extend that to 4K, and 5K, but never more; inspection done as you have done, showed all was well. I used to think that using only one oil brand in same vehicle, was important too, for longest engine life, but had to change my thinking on that, when two guys I know used "whatever oil was on sale," when they changed it, but they too stuck to good routine, changing oil often enough, and inspections at intervals showed good results too, so I now think it is a myth that one oil brand only for an engine protects best.
