Default its leaking.....

Ok so the output shaft seal has started to leak... it is not a huge leak....but..... I know I need to take care of it I have spoken to 2 mechanic friends and they are leaving the timeline of repair up to me. I was thinking of doing the TODDCO CDL add on kit a the same time, but for monetary reasons wanted to wait another month for the total expenses. SOO my question is do you think it is safe to wait or should I go ahead and fix the seal and do the CDL add on later.
Thanks all..

Sorry I forgot...

'03 disco, 103k, 2"ome lift w/heavy duty springs, ARB front bull bar. Top half already rebuilt as is the tranny w/ new greasable front shaft.

The 03 does not have CDL in the transfercase, unless you swaped to a different year.

you can try using white shepherd in the transfer case and see if that stops the leak. I have had good results with it except where the metal ring in the seal completely came apart and destroyed the seal. In that case, the output flange was scarred. You can order up a new seal, bolts and flange from AB for little more than the cost of the seal from the dealer. I recall that it was around $60 +/- If you are already in that deep, it isn't much more work to change out the flange. That said, it is worth the $20 to give it a try. They also guaranty their products so you can get you money back if it doesn't work. By the way, I have no affiliation to White Shepherd. By the way, was if the front or rear output shaft? Frankly, either of them is not that hard to change out, they can just be time consuming and if you are in a cold climate, even more so. All the best. Phil

The White Shepherd stop leak stopped both my t/case and rear diff leak within 2 days of driving.
