Just bought an '02 Discovery II and need some advice
Hi all,
I'm came across this forum while doing some research on my new purchase and its been pretty awesome. Last week, I bought an '02 Discovery II w 90k on it for ~$5k. It has the "3 amigos" on, and the owners says that the driver side coil spring is shot and is whats causing it.
I'm picking up the car from Boston, but live in Syracuse, NY. One of the things I've had to figure out is how to get the car from MA to here without registration as its basically impossible to get a temp reg in MA and NY. But thats a whole 'nother story...
I called up a LR dealer in Hanover, MA to do a check up on the car and they quoted me $250 for a "used car check up" (two hours of labour I think), or half that ($125) to diagnose why the lights are on. Are these prices reasonable? Or does anyone know of any good shops in either the MA or Syracuse area where I can take the car?
Another thing (last thing, I swear!), the owner has no maintenance records and I didnt check, but he prolly doesnt have the drive shaft rebuilt. So I guess I'm gonna have to do that and also a 60k service? Can I drive it back to Syracuse before doing this?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, this forum has been a great help!

Send me your tele number and lets talk about this.
Don't take it to a dealer for a used car inspection, that will be one of the worst experiences of your life.
As for the 3 Amigos, a bad spring wont cause this.
