just dies
New member here. 2003 Land Rover Discovery II. Recently just started dying. No hiccups, no sputtering, just dies like it had been shut off. I did a search here and have done the following. Replaced the fuel pump as it was the easiest to do. Replaced the fuel relay as well. No joy. More searching and found that the CPS was the most likely culprit. Replaced it as well. The one that came out was very dirty (info purposes). Seemed to run okay for about three days although hard to start. Turn over once, turn over twice then it would start. Started better once warm. It has 118,000 miles on it. I hate or maybe despise taking it to the LR dealer so any help would be greatly appreciated. When it died tonight it was definately warm if that plays a part I don't know. Thanks in advance.
You do not have a distributor so don't get sidetracked with that, check the installation of your cps, any codes? If it runs well other then the hard starting it could be your losing fuel pressure over night, there is a check valve probably in the pump to prevent this. Was it a quality cps?
you'll have to pardon me but how is it a Rover Master Tech doesn't know my vehicle doesn't have a distributor? I am not a mech that's why I'm here looking for help. No it has never thrown a code with this issue. I went and tried to start it after a cool down period last night and no joy. While trying to start the check engine light does go out if that is any help. Yes it was and OEM cps.
