0% of cars ever have had a fuel pump wiring issue. It is unfair to say that the dealer was trying to rip this guy off. They checked fuel pressure at the rail and recorded 0, then they checked the plug next to the fuse box under the hood and found 12v going to the fuel pump. They can be blamed for not going 100% of the way and opening up the back and looking at the pump, but for the other 99.999999999% of discos they would have been dead on. The OP made a new variable with his car that the dealer never ran across.

If he had brought his car to my shop I would have checked the pressure, checked power to the pump from under the hood, then quoted him on a new pump. Then when I got the back open I would have seen that he had messed the plug up and would have fixed it and charged him what time I had into it. The dealer may have done the same thing depending on the honesty of the technician. (MOST are pretty honest)
