Cartridge grease gun, if you like, the synthetic "green color " grease, the farm guys use it, it is high temp, and water and fertilizer resistant. You'll wipe the nipple off to remove grit, pump several times until you see fresh grease start to swell out of the joints. I like a gun that you can squeeze with one hand.

Well, I greased the shafts, but they are OEM and in pretty rough shape. I was looking at replacing them, and then I came across the rebuild in the tech section. I know very little about propshafts, other than how they work. I've installed a front driveshaft on an S10 Blazer years ago, but I've never rebuilt one and was wondering how difficult the rebuild really is. I have time next weekend, I can order the u-joints and rent the ball-joint press in time, but I will only have one car (the Rover) for the weekend, and need to make sure I (a) can do the rebuild and (b) have all the necessary and correct parts and tools, as there will be no chance of making a trip to the local parts store once the shaft is off. Is there a complete list of parts and tools w/ corresponding numbers someone can point me to, and are there any other write-ups or tips on how to do the front shaft? I figure I'll do the front one weekend, and the rear another. Thanks very much in advance.

Prop shaft rebuild not conceptually difficult, but IS a pain in the rear unless you have proper tools. That would include the four-letter stress relief words as well......
I took my front out, drove my 2WD Rover to the driveline shop gently, had them rebuild it, and then picked it up next day. Re-install was about 10 minutes, and it works like a champ!
$175.00, and VERY worth it in my opinion. They even cleaned and painted it.
That is, however, assuming you have a local driveline place.

As far as tools, I have a full line of shop tools, including a fridge of beer and a vocabulary that would make George Carlin blush. I know the removal and install isn't terribly hard, but maybe I should just take it to someone. I'll call around and see what shops might rebuild it. Thanks.
