Hi,
I found this iphone/android application called "RepairPal". It's free and you can download it from the Android Market.
Put in your make and model etc and it lists a whole bunch of repair and service possibilities....
Then put in your zip code and it'll do an estimate of the cost range of parts and labor...
For instance: For Catalytic Converter Replacement in Lynnwood Washington it gave the estimate between $1226 and $4318. (Parts estimate was $1030-$4068 and labor estimate was $196 - $250).
I'm not sure how accurate this program is but I'd be interested to know what DiscoMike and other knowledgable members think of it.
It can be found at http://repairpal.com/mobile (or if you have an android phone go to the Market and do a search for "RepairPal".

The Land Rover published book time for R&R of a transfer gearbox on a D1 is 5.4 hours. Since the D1 and DII are near the same for the gearbox I'd say it's close. Keep in mind that's for a Land Rover shop and mechanics who have likely done it before.
