Leaking Coolant Pump
if it’s on the water pump it’s called the weeping hole. Change pump it’s telling you.
There is a seal behind the impeller in the water pump, when the bearings wear out the seal fails and coolant gets in the bearings. The weep hole allows the coolant to migrate out and provides an indication that the water pump bearings are worn out and the seal has failed. Your pump will eat itself inside of 2 weeks if you drive it daily.
Dang, I made a big drive up to NC last week and noticed a large coolant loss on the first startup after making it home. I'm glad I got home without incident. Would this weep hole also allow air into the system? I've been battling waterfall for a few months and could never find the source.
I just replaced that pump almost 25k miles ago. Seems like a short lifespan to me. Does brand matter? If its going to die I'll just get the cheapest one. I found a big range from a $40 Europarts on Amazon to a $150 Airtex at AtlanticBritish.

I don't recall exactly, it was likely the Proline part from AtlanticBritish. I replaced it when I did my HG job about 4 years ago at 170k miles. I'm sitting at about 193k miles now.
