Default Little bolt in the flex plate

Just finished getting the transmission out of my 2000 Disco and when I took the torque converter bolts out I found a single strange torx bolt in the fly wheel. I saw it first through the drivers side oil pan hole and I removed it thinking it was a torque converter bolt (first time here) but there was only one. Now that I have the thing apart I can't find that bolt but I have no idea what it is for. Does anyone know?

Thanks

If it helps anyone help me I am pretty sure it came out of one of these thread holes on the outer edge of the flex plate. The only thing I can think of is it was for engine balance????

Thanks

Yes I am fairly certain that was weight added to balance the flywheel. The factory will drill a hole to subtract weight and tap a hole to add a weight.

Seconding that. It's a balance weight. You're going to run into a lot of vibration and potential bearing failures without it.

Found it! Now I just need to figure out where it came from. Hopefully there is a dirt ring or something. Just weird that they use a bolt to balance it.

Seems just about the best way to do it to me. Milling away material has a number of risks, so attaching fixed weights at a variety of possible points offers a lot of safe flexibility.
Hope you're able to identify the correct place to put it back. Use threadlock when you do reinstall it.

Well I can't figure out which hole it came from. I suppose if the engine is internally balanced I could just get the fly wheel re-balanced . Does anyone know how the engine is balanced?

Thanks
