Default Long crack in windshield

So I got the truck about 3 mo ago with a long crack in the windshield. Thinking about replacing it before NJ winter. It currently has a heated windshield, I know those are very expensive, is it worth the money to get a heated replacement or just go standard? Also how much is the growing rate for a new windshield (heated or non heated)?

Thanks

Check to see if your insurance company will cover it. I went thru this last year and insisted on an OEM replacement that was heated. Had it done by safelite. The big issue are the vertical pillars on each side of the windshield. LR uses crappy clips and the break easily. AB usually has the pillars in stock.
I believe NJ has no deductable for windshield.
It is really a shame when the windshield gets hit by a rock right after you buy a car.

Insurance replaced my heated windshield for free. Safelite also cracked the plastic piece below the windshield but they replaced that as well but I had to drive to them on a saturday to get that done.

I don't know about you guys but driving in a snow storm in sub freezing temps i don't know what I would do without the heated windshield. The wipers and defrost can not alone stop ice build up.

If your crack is 12" or less just have it fixed. I had a crack alittle longer than that and it came out good.

I have liability insurance, I got the truck for $1000 haha. Even if I change to comprehensive for a month, will I still have to pay my deductible ($500 on my other cars)?

Thanks

Glass coverage is different than regular coverage. Some states mandate that the glass be replaced for free. You have to read your policy and check state regs.

I called a local glass company in Missouri to replace my windshield with the heated screen and they quoted me $650. Not too shabby!
