My son is looking at a 2000 Disco and this is in the add "apparently has a transmission front seal leak"
So, keeping the fluid topped off is a must but is this something that can be done at a later date or need to get taken care of right now. I do all my own work and have droped transmissions before, how involved is it in a Rover, can it be done without taking out the engine or is that the prefered method?
thanks for thoughts

Remove exhaust + rear driveshaft + tranny mount (while supported by jack). Then bolts at back of bell housing (I think there are 6). After you remove all the wires (sensors), you should be able to wiggle it back on the jack. Of course this is an overly simplified version, so please follow the RAVE, but definitly easier than removing the engine.
