Losing the Battle with the SAI!
Periodically started getting 1412 code along with the occasional jets engine sounding SAI pump. I took the SAI pump off and changed the filter (PS. broke all three mounts and had to replace so the rubber on these things definitely goes bad). Also changed out the Purge Valve with the Hyundai equivalent part. Looked exactly the same!. Now I still have the 1412 code but in addition I have a 1415 code. I am going backwards and not sure what else I can check. Looks like all vacuum hoses are connected. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Wow, the old board is letting me down. The 1415 stopped. Still having the 1412. I cant believe there is no guru out there who does not have a suggested next course of action. Little help please!!!!!!!
- Faulty Secondary Air Injection (SAI) Vacuum Solenoid Valve
- Intake air leak
- Blocked SAI System hoses
- SAI Vacuum Solenoid Valve harness is open or shorted
- SAI Vacuum Solenoid Valve circuit poor electrical connection
Have you looked at the solenoid and connections?

Pull the garbage off and throw it in the trash, while making maintaining / repairing your Disco 1000x easier in the process, and never look back. That's what I did and mine wasn't even broke.
QuakerJ wish I could pull it off but not sure how the emissions inspection guy would feel about the blown codes. Actually, I pretty sure no pass is what he will say.
I feel like a dummy, somewhere along the line reading these threads I got the purge valve and the solenoid confused> Pretty sure the purge valve replacement was not needed. Just ordered the solenoid from AB. We shall see. In the meantime there is a very recent post at https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...12-code-67729/ that gives great diagnosis steps. Wish me luck!!!!!

And the SAI was just an interim emissions device in the fuel injection age... (It was important in carb'd engines, especially those without a cat). For modern types, it hardly decreases emissions, just makes it slightly more clean at startup (in the early 2000's) for those makes and engines where they couldn't move the catalytic converter closer to the engine right away.
You'll notice SAI is only present in carryover engines from the 90's that moved into 2000+ emissions where the cat wasn't mounted up close to the exhaust manifold (lights off faster). VW VR6, many Ford engines, Rover V8, etc. were all equipped with SAI *just* as a stopgap. You'll notice no one uses it anymore for obvious reasons.
