Losing Coolant
#11
Thanks again, guys. I'm going to have my mechanic replace the head-gasket, and then we'll see if we keep having issues.
Mike, I'll let you know what he gives for an estimate. He's really good at researching online and figuring out how many hours the job is.
He only charged me $90 to replace my plugs and wires, and he did it by taking the intake off.
We shall see, THANKS again for all this help.

I would say head gaskets for sure. Exact same cylinder her three months ago. Had to have the heads plained too. Make sure they are not warped or you will be doing the same job again soon. How old are the plugs and wires? Also while you are doing the gaskets you might as well change out the coolant from dexcool to normal "green" coolant. Atlantic British LLc has fair prices for all your parts you will need and well below dealer prices. Good luck!

Everything I have read on these forums shows that people have better luck with the green, some people even say that the Dexcool eats away the head gaskets but there is an underlying problem for this to happen. I have Dexcool in one and green in the other, guess I will find out. The only reason I still have Dexcool in my 2000 is that I have 105K on it and I am waiting for the HG to go out before I do the complete overhaul like I did on my newer one. Good luck on the job and keep us posted.

Roger that, thanks!
Do any retail stores sell the green stuff? It is called "OAT Coolant"?
It's funny, I have a 2004 and 2000 as well. Does your wife drive the 2000, as in my case?
I think I might have a power steering pump going bad on the 2000 as well, but I'm not sure. One thing at a time
