The 03 and 04 do not have chips either.
You can get a key FOB from this place in UK, will cost you only 180.00 and they send a key and programmer, you send the programmer back and they refund 30.00 and email you the EKA code.

I have an '03 SE and had my key copied for $3 from my local locksmith. It works in the doors and ignition.

A hammer and a flat head screwdriver unbolted the ignition switch and stiffed it up in behind the dash. Didn't cut a single factory wire or harness. No steering lock but hey I have push start now $39 got spent at bestbuy for keyless entry module.. So about 45 bucks total to fix a major f-up. Can go back to factory set up since I cut nothing and damaged nothing when ever I have a few hundred dollars for new keys and fobs and dealer programming.
Can you send me more specific details as to the procedure of the hot wire process ? Micro switches? Where you purchased them and brand name, i am in a similar situation i have the ignition switch removed and steering wheel free to turn and the plug removed from the back of the switch .

Just buy a whole new ignition assembly from Lucky 8 for less than $80 and it will come with a new key.
