Loud secondary air pump? This fixed it for me…
I wish I took photos but the fix is pretty straightforward. My secondary air pump had been HOWLING so loudly the last several months. Real nasty. Before ordering a replacement I figured I have nothing to lose by attempting a repair first.
I removed it, per RAVE, then unclipped the filter cover on the top (just a few obvious tabs). Then I removed the filter that was basically powder and dirt. It literally just disintegrated in my hands.
I ordered this filter on Amazon and cut to fit. It’s not exact, but it was close enough. I’m going to replace the filter annually from now on. It’s so cheap and super easy. This is the filter I ordered: https://amzn.to/3EOytfL
I then unclipped the bottom cap that covers the bearing the shaft mounts to and dropped a few bits of 3-in-1 oil on the bearing.
Put it back together, mounted and reconnected, and not even exaggerating a bit - it’s nearly silent. It sounds brand new.
10/10 recommend if your pump sounds like an angry banshee.

Haha I didn’t because TBH didn’t expect this to work. I really need to replace the rubber mounts soon. I’ll add photos when I do those.
My SAI is wonky. It comes on ***** nilly and I don’t think is OK. I’ve got a new purge valve coming for an intermittent code for that, but the filter was on the short list. At least there are no vacuum leaks from it.
