It’s been long over due as I wanted to submit on the forum a diagnostic tool showdown strictly for the Disco 2 owners.
These are 3/4 of the tools I’ve acquired over the years to complete the most simple to the extreme electronic diagnostic troubleshooting for the Disco 2 diesel Td5 and petrol Thor V8. I own the Bearmach Hawkeye Total, Bearmach Hawkeye 1st gen, Nanocom Evolution(s), Ultraguage Blue and Foxwell NT-510.
I’m awaiting my hardlined Ultraguage v1.4 to arrive from CONUS Oregon to complete the list of diagnostic tools.
DUDE! This is LONG overdue for the D2 platform. I’ve got an iCarsoft and a Nanocom, but this most certainly should be a sticky for those just getting into the game.
Honestly I think the Nanocom is the better choice.
I’m not going to have a long drawn out post about the differences but identify the pros, cons and wishlist of each diagnostic tool and invite others to comment on their experiences.
Why multiple Nanocoms? I was under the impression you could expand the capabilities by adding software modules. (I have one for my P38)
I would also add that the first thing I do is toss in the OBD dongle and connect using OBD Fusion (for apple....but Torque is basically the same for android) and monitor fuel trim, temps, volts, throttle, RPM, MPH, etc. If any one of these (and more) readings is not close to spec, I have a good starting point. For <$30 these tools are the best bang for the buck.
