If they aren't messed up 27mm but if you have had a hack touch them in the past 1 1/16" might work better. I think I'm going to slowly replace mine one wheel at a time because almost all of mine are messed up and even the 1 1/16" doesn't fit well.

Just the thought of rounding one of these off really scares me.

You can by a full set for a reasonable cost from L8 or their eBay store. Removed all my covers over a year ago, bought a new set and have yet to install them. The naked nuts are more functional and don't look bad after a week of getting used to a change.
......

Usually what happens is the stainless cover gets messed up but the steel lug nut is fine so worst case you can pull the cover off and still get the lug nut off, it will just be a smaller size socket.

True but grabbing a couple good ones here and there each trip to the junk yard is free.

Are the lug nuts on a D1 the same as these specs of the D2?

I want to give my son a breaker bar with a socket for future emergencies, and have tried both sizes and seen each listed as the lug nut "size". I couldn't find anywhere in the RAVE where lug nut size is mentioned.

The 27mm goes on comfortably on my son's D2 lug nuts, while the 1 1/16" is tight but with a little persistence still goes on.

The lugs have seen their share of abuse I am guessing from impact wrenches, etc. and it feels like we are re-squaring them a bit every time we work a 1 1/16" socket on.

Thanks.
Forget imperial sizes, they are history, most, if not all parts of the D2 are metric sizes. If you use a comparison chart some of the metric sizes cross relate to imperial, it's merely luck

PS: Think BMW, VW, new type Rolls Royce, Bentley et al, they are all metric sizes and at one point BMW owned LR and indeed own Rolls Royce whilst VW own Bentley.
