What is the lug sockets size? I read somewhere that it was 1 1/16 but I cannot get that sized socket over the lug cover. It appears that they are more like 27mm. And they are on there bigtime, I am having a time getting them off.

 

I just use 28mm, after a tire shop screwed up my lug nuts I can't get 1 1/16ths on anymore

 

Does anyone make a good one piece lug set that looks OEM because I hate the shell that sits on top of the lug.

 

I use a 1-1/16" Snap-on flank drive 6 pt socket. The flank drive design applies the torque to the flats and not the points of the lug nut. If I bring my DII to a shop (rare occasion) and they need to take a wheel off, I bring this socket with me.

Not for D2, or at least not that I've ever seen. On D1/RRC/Defender there is such an animal.

Best bet is to buy new nuts from rovah farm, and then never let a tire shop with an impact wrench anywhere near it.
