MAF Code 734
Hi all. I was throwing code 734 about once a day. I carry a pocket scanner in the car and clear it when it comes up. Having a 2001 Disco II Bosch MAF, I knew I was pretty much screwed. I read that the Bosch can't be cleaned or fixed. So I thought...what do I have to lose? I took the MAF out of it's housing with a pair of pliers and took a q-tip and isopropyl alcohol to the element. It cleaned up nice and I reinstalled the MAF. So far it's been a few days and NO code. I'm hopeful that it's fixed, but either way I have a few land rover parts sites on bookmark! BTW - I installed a K&N air filter about 3 months ago. Coincidence? I think not. So if anyone wants a cheap K&N filter used for about 3 months, make me an offer.
This problem must be takinga big chunk out of K&N's profits. They have a whole page and a bunch of videos on their website dedicated to MAF sensors and their own explanation of why they are failing. I haven't read it, but I'm curious what they say it is.
