It cost me a battery and a rebuilt starter (throw parts at it, I always say. Haha), but it was just a little corrosion.

Glad you fixed it, Collie. You're one of the dependables I look to when I have an issue; you can't have a gimpy rover.
i am glad I can help, but take a grain of salt! Shade tree mechanic here.

It makes sense, and has been much more well mannered. Idle got to 630 once, otherwise been great.

i have two electric fans on the radiator and a remote oil cooler, so i am going to upgrade my alternator soon. Probably a p38 150 amp.

that may be part of it, I am asking more than the stock set up.

I also will clean my grounds. Won’t hurt.

Well, I am broke down on the on ramp, rush hour Chicago. Stalled again, will not start, and no codes. Going to take it to my mechanic and have him test for either no spark or no fuel. I am guessing Crank Position Sensor.

Splash some cold water on the CPS, sometimes she’ll start up after the CPS cools down.

My 99 did that to my wife & I on our Anniversary dinner 100 miles from home. I used a non Bosch CPS & it went south in 3-4 months. It cooled down & cranked up, I hauled butt home. Since I got it from Auto Zone I just exchanged it for another one & this time I made sure to get a Bosch unit.

haha! I was going to get my toddler at Daycare. At least I didn’t have him yet!

I am guessing my guy Marvin will be ordering me a Bosch CPS. I have a spark tester, but had no option to use it. And putting a new COS in on the street is not my idea of fun.

Yeah the CPS is certainly not a fun adventure especially on a hot engine!!! For some reason my 99's CPS isn't bad at all and it maybe takes me 10-15min from start to finish. On my 04 it was a PITA and the CPS connector alone took me 20min to unplug & then plug back in. Once I lifted the 04 however the angle of my arm going up into the guts = much better.

To test spark I always just pour a little fuel directly into the intake and turn it over. If it doesn't cough or run briefly = no spark. This summer I have replaced a record amount of fuel pumps. 2-3 of them were just completely gross with little to no insulation left on the OEM fuel pump assembly wiring. I used some 45.00 fuel pumps off of Ebay.

Truly sorry she died on ya in rush hour traffic. Had I been local I'd have come to your aid buddy!

I actually stopped several months ago to help a D2 that was broken down on the side of the road. It was an 04 that lucky for the owner decided to loose it's front shaft upon entering the freeway. It did absolutely no damage and I told them I could remove the front drive shaft and they could engage CDL to drive home. They looked at me like I was some kind of weirdo (driving my 02 Kalahari at the time) and rather rudely said and I quote "Umm no thanks we don't let anymore work on our Land Rover besides the dealership" I said oh okay and left. It was a lovely TX Summer day and it was probably 100F by the side of the road easy and they had at least a 2HR tow truck drive to their Houston LR Dealer lol.

Hilarious. I was going to comment how lucky they were, but no, just idiots.

I am guessing the CPS is cool in the am it starts, and Marvin is like, “nothings wrong.” I’d get it back do it myself if that happens, but I really really don’t want to get stuck on the highway.

But it could be the fuel pump, too. I’m hoping it won’t start and I get a good diagnosis.

Yeah if you have SAI those fuel pumps are cheap. With all the darn ethanol in fuel these days it’s a good idea to change it out anyways especially if it’s still the OEM pump.

Let us know how it goes!

Damn sorry you are having trouble still Collie. I am thinking of changing my fuel pump just in case.
