Adaptives may need reset, which can't be done with just an OBD scanner. I suspect that is what he was talking about, but $100 labor is still outrageous. He wouldn't need to drive it at all, just clear the codes, reset the adaptives, and then have you put 50-100 miles on it before taking it in for emissions testing.

so if adaptives need to be reset, then I do in fact need his services in some fashion? I was thinking of trying it on my own, then driving the truck a few days before I go try to get my sticker...but not the case? what exactly are adaptives and how are they reset?
