Default Mass air flow sensor

Has anyone tried an after market sensor? Not a gimmic with promises of unbelievable things, but a true reliable one? If so what where your findings.

Nope, but since a D2 MAF is cheap (about $250 vs $1500 for a D1), what kind of problems are you having?

As of right now, none. I have ben reading up possibly replacing my SVS, and the MA FS seemed to come up. So I wondered if there was a better one to replace it with.

I'd say if it a'int broke don't fix it. The MAF is "supervised" 100% of the time the engine is running, so other than cleaning, they usually work or throw codes.

Why are you into replacing parts, do you have any fault codes, what exactly, by number, are they.
As for your question, if you have read anything regarding MAF's you would know you can't use an after market MAF, not even a Bosch generic, it has to have matching part numbers or it will fail right out of the box.

Nothing wrong yet they I know of. From reading different threads in here it seems like the MAF pops up a bit. Mainly hire gimmicky it can be with certain aftermarket intake systems. So I was just wondering if there was a more robust MAF out there to replace it with. Either when/if mine went out (still using factory airbox) or as a preventative maintenance. That was all.
It can get quite confusing with so many different opinions in separate threads about the same part.

No, there is not, main thing is keep a clean air filter and don't suck in any water.

Mike.. Im getting a P0102 reading.. I tried cleaning, no luck.. my question to you is.. how do I know which Bosch to go with?? I bought this 2001 D2 SE and it had a "USMotors" MAF in it already?? I seen brand new BOSCH MAF (suggested by site) for D2 for $115?
