Massive offroader... defeated by carwash!

My connector is filled with dielectric grease. Totally filled. Enough so it spills when I plug it in.
I changed mine this am to my spare. Drove the truck again. Took it around the block, down into the woods, up on the rock - about an hour drive, no issue. Parked it in the driveway, started it back up to back it up a bit more, no issue restarting.
Drove it 15 mins away to pickup dinner... Dead again. Just cranking.
So now, I've put 3 of them in there. 2 kicked in by car wash, and now one just dead just because? Perhaps short term use failure, like any electronics, they can fail in the first day easier.
I'm leaning now toward there being another issue that I've just not found, like a grounding out or something of the sensor... Anyone have any thoughts where I should check out next? The last sensor lasted over a month, so I doubt there's anything huge wrong with the truck itself...
