Don't go by "reports" go look and listen.

Take a code reader and drive it at least half an hour.

Best of luck!

Current owner said no guarantee it will start. Says it’s 50/50 chance it will start; usually only
when cold outside.

Treat it as a $500 parts truck. If you can sort it out with a CPS and a bit of elbow grease it’s a win. If its garbage you sell off a few key parts and get the rest in scrap from the salvage yard and break even

You haven't mentioned where you are. In a location where there will be a market for the parts getting your money back is one thing, if you are in BFE and have to try to ship things like seats and transfer cases to get even then you have more to think about. Unless of course you are prepared to buy another better one and save this for parts. Either way you will have to be prepared to spend a few thousand dollars per year over the long run keeping one of these on the road.

Everyone's comments seem on point regarding this vehicle.
My question is what is your mechanical ability?
If you have the mechanical know-how then this seems like an awesome deal.
But if you have any apprehensions about doing any of the work, probably not the best vehicle to start tinkering on with a limited budget.
Yes I also agree with the alcoholic comment lol.

So the seller just sent me an itemized invoice of recent repairs. It is just under $3,000. Thermostat, radiator hoses, mass air flow sensors, and literally dozens of other things. At the bottom it says

”shuttle valve, RF wheel speed sensor, and left rear wheel hub all need replacing. Customer declines at this time.”

are these expensive fixes? Could the shuttle valve be responsible for the only starting 50% of the time? Trying to figure out why the current owner would spend 3,000$ 2 months ago then sell it for $600 when it doesn’t start every time?

Please continue to weigh in.

Sounds like the mechanic or the owner threw parts at it and had no clue or maybe they fixed some leaks etc
for 600 -1000 $ you can’t go wrong

unless the engine is toast

i woukd do a coolant pressure test to see if it’s leaking anywhere including the head gasket. This is easily done If no leaks than I would buy it for that price

Shuttle valve is ABS brake related, Would not contribute to start up issue. I think the option B is about a $10 fix. A mechanic who didn't know better might think you need a whole new Wabco ABS unit... That would be money. Wheel speed sensor cheap. Hub pretty cheap for aftermarket hub, Factory hub $500, aftermarket around $150... but usually not easy without proper shop and tools. There are Youtube videos on all of these fixes. Was Crank Shaft Position Sensor on the list of dozens of things?
