The moment of truth...
2001 disco motor replacement due to cracked sleeve. Purchased salvage motor, posed a few questions here (thank you all by the way) and tonight was the night... everything plugged in and all clamps tight... connected the battery and... wait for it.... wait for it..... it started.
The problem.
It runs very rough. Yes I check and double checked the spark plug wires, but it still sounds as though it needs timed or one of the cylinders is not firing correctly. any ideas?

In no particular order -
Codes?
Data reading scanner shows ignition advance changing under load, etc.?
Vac leak
Fuel Pressure regulator
VSS disconnected / bad (while underway)
Coil(s)
plugs and wires
injector not working on one or more cylinders (assumes you did not change injectors of donor motor)
But compared to what you just accomplished, this should be a cake walk.

Ok,
Any insight on purchasing a code scanner? It doesn't run well enough to try to make it to a local shop... nobody rents one. Help is appreciated.
The dang thing starts (running on several cylindars), and the problem is NOT the wiring from coil to plugs... I checked and re-checked several times.
Thanks.
Sam

Have seen another reference that 0560 is too many codes in memeory, reset codes to clear.; 1319 is misfire with low fuel; 1536 is AC clutch related. So start with plugs 5 & 7 wiring check, check battery volts just to be sure. Clear and start again. That immobilizer code could be a wire unplugged fom a module.
