I replaced all the plug wires and plugs.

It seems like it wants to go when I give it the gas but it hesitates and then runs rough.

When I start it and back out I smell a strong aroma of raw gasoline not like your normal exhaust fumes.

I have triple checked all my connections and made sure all the wires and plugs are matched correctly.

When I took the intake plenum off the gasket had oil on it?

Don't know if this is part of the problem or just another symptom.

One of the responses I have mentions a possible stuck fuel injector. Does anybody think an aftermarket fuel injector additive would be a good idea to put in the tank?

This maybe just another symptom but while driving the rover sometimes every warning / indicator light the vehicle has comes on at once. The truck would drive fine (before it got to its present condition) and when I would shut it off the lights would all be off when I restarted it.

I appreciate all the advise everyone has given me and I hope we can figure this out before I have to sell my first born at the dealership. My last trip was over $2500 for the engine work, I passed on the non essentials, another 1500. We love our Land Rover but at this point....

fuel system clean at my local mechanic did wonders for my 96 Disco which was doing a lot of the things you have mentioned.

Just sayin...

Default problem solved

Had to break down and take it to the dealer. The final word after the dealer couldn't figure it out for over two weeks, was to replace the same parts I had just replaced.

They replaced brand my new Napa plug wires and new coils I purchased from British Atlantic, the brand was Eurospare. They put all Land Rover parts back on and it ran like a champ... for two weeks and now its down again with a pool of antifreeze under it.

Man what a pain... maybe you are getting coolant in the cylinders?
