My Bumper Design (Still In Progress)
It's looking good! If you want to round of the edges on the front, use the fillet command and you can put a 1/2" or 1" rounded edge on there. That way it isn't a straight, sharp point where the curves need to be.
I was thinking about rounding it out a little, but I like it square on the sides then rounded after it wraps around the blinkers, I don't think I've seen a D2 bumper anything like it, and I'll know exactly where my bumper ends are, so I can really swing into a parking space fast and know if I'm going to cream the guy next to me
. Plus if it was rounded, the vertical tubing on each end would look funky and I would remove them, and removing them would make it a lot less sturdy and make my headlights more vulnerable.
EDIT: I know about the fillet command, I'm probably doing it wrong and it's taking forever but its really nice to use. I used it to make the recovery point mounts. I love solidworks now lol.
EDIT #2: Dusty, I'm actually designing a rear bumper similar to Greg Davis' style and approach angle but with protection that wraps around the body corners just under the tail lights.

Those look amazing!
Do you have a good part or assembly file for a D2? I'd like to start designing my own rear bumper and haw some good accuracy. I'd go measure my truck, but it's at the transmission shop right now.
If you don't have a D2 CAD file, do you have any file that would be a good starting point for dimensions?
