Easy way to tell, if the rear side windows and upper alpine windowshave "flush bonded" glass, then its a series 2, if they have big rubbers then its a series 1. Otehr ways to tell

series 1 has stereo controls on upper dash surround (Volume up / down etc)
series 1 has a T shaped auto lever handle.
series 1 has speakers in the rear upper side trims.
series 1 has rear boot (trunk) light on the side trim, series 2 is in the roof

series 2 has body coloured bumpers, series 1 does not
series 2 has "side marker lights" inside the indicator /turnlamps, series 1 are lower and in the bumpers......

And theres LOADS more differences to

ORIGINAL: Landzu
Both have 100" wheel base the Disco II its fatter across.
Thank you, I stand corrected. Same wheelbase, series II just longer.

A few other giveaways will be black plastic fender flares on a series II, if an SE model. Series II front airdam wil be painted body colour vs black plastic on series I, also if you turn on your parking lights series Is will have city lights (headlights dimly illuminated) and series II will have the side marker lamps iluminated but not the headlights.

According to Roverland Parts, since your Disco has the digital climate control you have a II series.

Roverland Parts Tip:

Land Rover made two Discovery Models in 1999. The Discovery I model has twist ***** on the A/C Temperature control, and the Discovery II model has a digital A/C Temperature Control

I have both a series 1 and 2, and my headlights dimly illuminate on both of them when in parking light mode along with the amber marker lights. The biggest difference between both of them would be the tail lights, door handles and the front and rear bumpers and the rear glass the way it is installed no exterior rubber gasket on the back windows, flush mounted on the Series 2.

I guess it's model dependent. My 96 had city lights no ambers no corners, my '01 had corners only no city lights.

going by the pic of the dII that camdisco24 put up mine looks exactly like that! its a 1999, has 125,000 miles, the 4.0 v8 and was fairly clean when i bought it. I cleaned it up nice nice myself and now looks great! one thing thats buggin me is that the seatbelt wont click in (i posted a forum on this) and there is no longer acd changer installed. Im having an alpine cd changer installed as soon as i get the MBUS converter which i was toldthey dont make anymore. i hope this changer will fit under the passenger seat where it should be, i told the guy at boomer mcloud that i had a series one so idk if it will fit. if not we'll put it someplace else, but i dont want it put where it will be seen/stolen... ok thanks for all replies everybody and thanks for bein friendly!
