Default My Repair Made It Worse

CEL, codes indicated a problem with left bank upstream O2.
Removed O2, sandblasted clean, replaced.
Runs awful, no power. Knew better than to leave the driveway. Rich exhaust smell.
Waiting for Torque Lite to download so I can use ELM 327
Battery was weak from sitting 2 weeks. Could that be related?
Oh, look, Torque Lite won't download!
Don't be like me....

Just unplug the 02 for the time being, ECU will revert to speed density program using only MAF and cps to determine tune. Will run better but with CEL until you get 02.

Sandblasted ??

Check your fuel purge valve

plug the intake port where the purge valve goes to see if your problems disappear quick

Sandblasting was a big no-no. O2 sensors are sensitive enough to become ruined from some oil/soot on the surface. They don't do well with abrasives either

Uh, I've seen other methods to try to clean an O2 sensor (e.g. soaking in gasoline), but sandblasting? Where did you get that idea?

I'd imagine those O2 Sensors are ruined. Grab a couple new ones, at least you know you can get the bad ones out.

Well, I figured it was toast anyway. Really, the only thing that should touch an O2 sensor is CO2 and H2O, under perfect combustion. It makes more sense to pressure wash them with water.
I got Torque to work, the O2 sensor is at zero unless I step on the gas, then the needle moves to 8 (using gauge view). The O2 sensor is responding.....
I will try the fuel purge test.
Thanks everyone!

That's interesting, that's what it is supposed to do. Swap them left and right and see what it does.
