Just snapped off one of the blades on fan that cools the radiator, not the electric one but the one attached to the engine.

Nope, can't do that, it will damage water pump bearings and fan may come apart and go thru radiator.

Emergency replacement is off of any GMC / Chevy truck late 90's early 80s, six inch fan clutch will screw right on to ours. May have to trim ends of blades slightly. $20 at junkyard.

Also, you can remove your fan, and run without it, as long as you don't stay stopped too long. Fan only does a job at stop or slow traffic. Electric fan will kick on if you get to 212F.

Well, you may find a Disco in there. I drove 35 miles home with no fan on a 100+ day, water pump was wobbling and I didn't want it to send fan into radiator. I seem to recall Spike has been driving around in the winter weather with no fan. If you have to drive with no fan, just don't stop in traffic and idle or wait in drive thru at McDonalds - that $1 double cheese burger is not worth head gaskets....

So I went to The local advanced auto parts picked up an electric fan ($65) and a relay with a thermostat on it ($28) that kicks on at 185 degrees and shuts off at 165 degrees. the stock fan was really heavy so not having it on the water pump I am sure I have just removed some real drag on the engine.
It seems to be working great but I will report back after awhile and let everyone know for sure.
Also just fyi I did alot of reading on how to remove the fan and I did get the fan removal tool from advanced auto parts and it did have a 36m wrench in the kit but I could have easily done the removal with my adjustable wrench and a strap wrench, there was plenty of room. Mine is an 04.
