Default Need Help: Truck's dead, no start, no lights, no alarm

Hey guys I've been driving the truck no problem for a few months now. But today I was bit again by the Land Rover snake.

Anyway as I was about to start the truck, I put the ignition into position II like normal and when I was about to start her up everything died. Stereo, dash lights, everything went out. I can't even push the button on the keys to lock the truck up. The battery reads at 12.68, or it may have been 12.86 actually Ill have to check again. But all fuses relating to spark and battery have been checked and they are fine. Thoughts? Alternator? I tried locking and unlocking 3 times, nothing happened.

First - put a battery charger onto the battery and charge it.
The battery may have 12.86 volts - but no current.

Remove the battery terminals and clean them.
No kidding.

Check the earth wire - the black from the battery to the frame.

Check the ground wire - from the driver's side cylinder head to the firewall.

Check ALL the fuses in the under hood fusebox..

And - -- check the main relay.

You could try to unplug and plug in the relays a few times to clean the contacts between relay and fuse box connectors.

And when he says check the fuses, start with the large ones under the hood that are bolted in. If the largest one is blown, the alternator won't charge the battery and but the battery warning light starys normal. Volts on a battery only show work being done if a load is applied, like turn on head lights. A running Disco shold produce 13.8 - 14.4s volt at idle with no extras turned on.

Wow thank god I got a quick fix for once. Good call JFall. I had loose connections on the battery, some corrosion on the positive side. Cleaned and loaded them up with dielectric grease and got those suckers on tight now. Seems to be back to normal. I'm slowly getting rid of my noobly ways. Thanks guys.

Hahaha,
Yea.
'Cause my 2001 did the EXACT SAME THING
In Broomfield, CO right next to Jason's Deli.

Turned the key.
Click - spurt, dead.

I walked to the Walmart and bought a new battery.
Used a shopping cart to bring it back.
And took off the terminals -- found ONE WAS LOOSE!

Did not need the battery.
Put it in anyway.

Used the old battery which was an Interstate to power an inverter to fix the cylinder head gaskets at night....

And sold that old interstate battery to a dude on Craigslist for $27.
