Default need quick help on brake job!

Thanks guys for answering me a quick question. Got on 03 Disco front brake job. Went mid grade EBC rotors and Semi Met pads.
The new pads have a sticky tape on back (like brake quiet goop?).
Do I reuse the shims off the old pads? They are hard to get off and clean but I could if I must. Please help soon!
Under the car,
John

Default I'm Pretty Sure That Is a Yes

I always have, but you may want to wait for some others opinion since I'm in no way a professional at this.

You had good luck with no squealing? Use disc quiet stuff too?

Default Good Luck

I changed all four using aftermarket pads at 55K miles. I have heard many times using aftermarket pads can lead to the 3 Amigos, but mine never did. I used the no squeal orange paste that you can buy from any auto shop and reused the backing plate. I've also used a no squeal spray from Zep, but on a different vehicle. Between the two I seem to like the paste.

Side Note: I did finally get the 3 amigos around 122,000 miles, but the codes pointed to the shuttle valve.

I use the red goop on the bak of my pads. I also don't bother with shims, have not had a set of disco brakes that came with them.

Default help on brake job

thx. no amigos yet. EBC was supposed to be the closest to OEM (no upgrading). Well the shims do NOT fit the new pads as tightly as the old ones. The little tabs do NOT go over the edges and lock in place, so im left with no shims, or using the disc quiet paste to hold them in place, or (oh no) reuse the old pads. I actually had about 75-80% of pads left, just worn the rotors down somethin aweful (18mm i think). well?

ok. there seems to be no consensus. I call a LR dlr on west coast also. They said definitely use shim and goop. so then i'm left with loose shims only really held with goop (b/c the tabs dont reach and lock the shim in place). Somebody help!?!?

No shims on mine with no problems. If your still worried, just bag the shims and put them back on later...

Default vibration coming from new rotors!?!?!?

Just did the job. used the shims (had to bend the tabs to make them fit on the new pads). Test drove it and the left front has a very noticeable vibration coming from rotor. What did i do wrong?!? They are EBC (so ground rotors usually to a high tolerance) rotors and pads. I must get this done today. Thanks for quick reply.
