Thanks. The local shop said pretty much the same thing. I'll save up some cash over the next couple of months. I'll either pull it myself or have them pull it. They've recommended a good engine shop to rebuild it. I've never rebuilt an engine before and I dont want to learn on something that I've already invested so much into. So, if I just pay the shop to do everything, it'll be around $3500 plus parts. The oil pump gears, timing chain, cam and lifters are new. I'll just put together the $5k and do it.

Hopefully this FJ-80 will work well so that I can breathe a little easier. The head gaskets in our Subaru are failing, too. One day at a time.

Ah man.
I would just lower the pan.
Spin in new lower mains.
Spin in new rod bearings.
Clean the screen.
Clean the pan.

Your pressure will be back and you are done.
$300 maybe.
You pull the engine - $2,000

There is a rear main seal leak, too. That requires pulling the engine or transmission, right? I'm still going to let it sit for a week or two and contact another shop about just putting some new bearings in. I already did them myself with a buddy, but I'm no mechanic. I very easily could have jacked something up. Thanks for the input. I'll probably give that another shot.

you are going to end up complete rebuilding that motor and still have a questionble block, why not call Great Plains Rover they will give you a complete motor with a 3-year 36month for a little over $5k, that new flanged lines, ARP head stud kit, and interior water seal, bolt it and go.
