That's interesting. It certainly seems to be an improvement over stock, though it does seem less stable than the inline mod.

Correct it is not the stock thermo... it is the thermo from a diesel freelander out of europe. But it works really really well. But it is also not the INLINE thermo conversion that was being asked for.

Z maybe you should have read what was being asked before you posted and then responded so quickly.
We all make mistakes.

I prefer just using the TD5 version which is a genuine part and gets the same temps. That being said I would/will probably never do this mod. All I need is the car to warm up SLOWER in VT....

There's really no reason to do the inline thermo mod when you can just do the TD5 version, if you can please provide a concrete reason to go with inline over 10 degree cooler by all means...
